What does volunteering at our Free Legal Advice Centre look like?
Our volunteer lawyers provide 30-minute one-off advice appointments to local residents. They meet with residents to listen to their circumstances, explain their options and help them understand their rights, offer initial advice, and signpost clients for further support where appropriate.
Our clinic sessions are held twice a month on Sunday mornings. We ask that our lawyers volunteer at the centre monthly, but we are conscious of other commitments and work around their schedule.
What do we provide to our volunteers?
The Free Legal Advice Centre conducts all client triage and appointment booking, arranging of clinic sessions, administrative support, student volunteer support, Professional Indemnity Insurance, and teas and coffees!
Who can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers with a range of expertise. If you would like to provide advice to clients at our Centre, you must hold a live practising certificate and have two years post qualifying work experience.
If you are not yet qualified but would still like to support the Centre, please get in touch to discuss becoming a student volunteer.
