Finchley & Golders Green’s Big Conversation on Europe

“Brexit has done more harm than good” – these were the words used by the Prime Minister as he set out his vision to the country.

It will come as no surprise that I wholeheartedly agree. Like many local residents, my roots are European. My grandmother was Spanish, my mum is from Gibraltar, I speak Spanish, French and have family and friends across the continent. I have seen the importance of our partnership with the European Union up close.

I welcome the Prime Minister opening the conversation on Europe once again. It’s the sensible thing to do.

Public opinion currently supports a pragmatic approach to the EU – but if the past ten years have taught us anything it is that this debate must have room for nuance. It is not possible to break it down to simply IN or OUT.
That is why I am launching Finchley and Golders Green’s Big Conversation on Europe. I want to hear from you what you think about the nuances and shape of the debate around the EU.
