Brand New Lido approved by Barnet Council.
Barnet Council’s Cabinet said ‘yes’ to a brand new leisure centre and lido in North Finchley.
I know, like me, many of you are disappointed that City Hall approved plans to redevelop GNLP. But, included in the plans, is the chance for Finchley to benefit from a state-of-the-art new leisure centre and lido.
Those who use the leisure centre will know that it is reaching the end of its’ usable life and is in a poor state of repair.
This new deal means that North Finchley will be getting a brand new, state-of-the-art leisure centre with a bigger lido, a learner pool, a steam room and more. This is a facility that our community needs and deserves.
Until the new centre is ready, the current one will remain open, meaning we will continue to have access to sports and leisure facilities locally.
As I have said, I do not agree with all aspects of the redevelopment plans, and much more work is needed to make this development work for us all. But the agreement of a brand new leisure centre and lido is a significant benefit for the whole community and one step towards this.
As your Member of Parliament, I will continue to ensure your voices are heard and that this development delivers the very best for Finchley and Golders Green.
