Hundreds of you have been in contact with me this week to show your support for strengthening protections for young people online. I know there are widespread concerns about the impact social media use has on young people’s safety, development and wellbeing and the access it gives to harmful content online. 

As a mum to two girls, I share your concerns. I know that, as parents, we are torn between wanting to protect our children from online harm but not wanting them to feel left out.
