What I Believe In

My belief in economic fairness, social justice and opportunity for all runs through my political beliefs. If elected I will prioritise the following:

  • The Conservatives have mismanaged our economy. From Liz Truss’ mini-budget to rocketing interest rates, we’re all paying the price.
  • Prices are up and wages are down. In Finchley, the average mortgage has risen by over £8000 a year. The cost of the weekly food shop is up 17%.
  • Under Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves, Labour can be trusted with the nation’s finances.
  • To grow our economy, we have a plan to build thousands more homes, invest in clean energy and support our nation’s businesses, big and small.
  • Our NHS is in crisis. Waiting times are at record levels with around 7.6 million patients waiting for treatment.
  • In Finchley and Golders Green, many people are struggling to access their GP and emergency care.
  • Only Labour will reduce the NHS waiting list. We will do this by recruiting thousands of new doctors, nurses and midwives, paid for by abolishing the non-dom tax status.
  • Over 2 million crimes went unsolved year, leaving criminals free and victims without justice.
  • The Conservatives cut thousands of police from the front line and left hundreds of CCTV cameras broken in our area. Finchley and Golders Green residents have told me they don’t feel safe on our streets.
  • We need to get tough on crime and on the causes of crime – investing in prevention and policing
  • Labour will put 13,000 more neighbourhood police and community safety officers on our streets.
  • Barnet’s new Labour Council has already begun repairing CCTV cameras and supporting a Met Police pilot to tackle gang crime.
  • Labour is committed to making our streets safe and halving violence against women and girls.
  • The Conservatives have stopped pretending to care about the environment – they’ve allowed raw sewage to pollute our rivers and beaches and broken their promises to tackle the climate crisis.
  • As an environmental lawyer, I have always fought to protect green spaces, improve air quality and tackle climate change locally and nationally.
  • Labour is committed to achieving a fair, green transition, creating good green jobs, turning Britain into a clean energy superpower, and punishing polluters.
  • The Conservatives have failed young people. Nothing symbolises this more than crumbling concrete in our schools. In East Finchley, children are being educated in portacabins due their failures.
  • With Labour, I will ensure that every child in our community gets the best start.
  • We will introduce breakfast clubs in every primary school, better access to childcare and early years support and world class teachers in every classroom.
